spider diagram
A spider diagram helps you arrange and organise pieces of your argument before you commit to writing. The advantage of a spider diagram is that you can break a large, complex writing task into smaller, managable 'chunks'. Start with a list of reasons that answer the question you have posed. Write your main question in a centre bubble and draw 3 'legs' (keep it to three to make your paper shorter). Pick three key reasons from your list and write them in the bubbles. Now try to place the other reasons as subthemes to your key reasons (they can appear more than once). Cross out the reasons as you go so you see how many you have left. If you are happy with the result, draw a circle around 'chunks' of writing you can attempt, one at a time.
