We spent 14 DAYS in Managed Isolation!

Managed isolation is one of New Zealand's main approaches to ensuring that Covid 19 does not enter the country. Every person arriving in New Zealand must spend 14 days in isolation in one of the hotels set aside for this purpose, and pass two Covid tests before being allowed out into the community.

No choice of facility is provided, so travellers are allocated to hotels with available space at random - we were assigned to the Novotel Auckland Airport, which is just across a road from the airport itself.

Two weeks confined to one small room and a fenced off section of parking lot can really take it out of you, but we managed to pass the time and are grateful to now be in a country that has managed Covid extremely well, and is therefore able to operate without many of the restrictions being experienced around the world.
