Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue - Role Related Tests

This video explains the role related testing phase for recruitment for on-call, whole time, and apprentice firefighters.

There are five tests that we use to determine if you are capable of performing the physical requirements of being a firefighter.

1. Equipment carry: this is a 550m relay with various fire service equipment. It must be completed within 6 minutes.

2. Confined space: your vision is obstructed and you are to follow guidelines through an obstacle course.

3. Ladder climb: This required you to climb a 13.5m ladder and perform some tasks.

4. Haul aloft and lower: this requires you to extend a ladder and then lower it in a controlled manner

5. Ladder lift: this simulates the weight of lifting a ladder.
