#UVAObscura: The Merton Spire
Nestled in the Pavilion VI garden is one of the oldest artifacts on Grounds and the only one outdoors. The Merton Spire once sat atop Merton College Chapel at Oxford University, where it was installed in 1451. Oxford gifted it to UVA in 1927 in honor of Thomas Jefferson.
