Origami spherical mechanism
This animation illustrates the connection between an origami vertex and a spherical mechanism. The origami creases are analogous to hinges and the facets are like rigid links. Note that the hinge axes all intersect at a point.
The animation was done by Nathan Mooth for the Compliant Mechanisms Research Group (CMR) at Brigham Young University. The work is funded by the National Science Foundation and Air Force Office of Scientific Research through grant number 1240417.
