An unforgettable heritage road trip across the historic heart of Gujarat, beginning at the majestic Sun Temple, Modhera, celebrated for its magnificent Solanki-era architecture, sacred Surya Kund, intricate carvings, and the playful lemurs in the nearby gardens.
The journey then moves to Patan, home to the world-famous Rani ki Vav, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its extraordinary stepwell architecture and sculptural brilliance. Patan also showcases the historic Sahastralinga Talav, the scenic Khan Sarovar, the iconic Patola House preserving the legendary Patola weaving tradition, the sacred Kali Mandir, and the revered Panchasara Parshwanath Jain Derasar, along with historic Mahadev temples reflecting Patan’s rich medieval legacy.
The spiritual trail continues to Siddhpur, famously known as the “Kashi of the West,” because of the sacred Bindu Sarovar and the spiritual significance of the ancient Saraswati River. The elegant mansions of Bohra Vadi, often called the “Paris of the East,” blend Indian and European architectural styles. The historic ruins of Rudra Mahalaya further highlight Siddhpur’s grand Solanki-era heritage and architectural significance. The Gem of the visit was, of course, the Sristhal Museum in the Bindu Sarovar Tirth Complex.
The final destination is Vadnagar, an ancient town steeped in history and culture. Highlights include the historic Vadnagar Railway Station, the beautiful Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple, the serene Sharmishtha Lake and temple complex, the historic Kirti Torans (Victory Gates), and the rich historical legacy preserved across the ancient town.
