A tribute to the films of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
FILMS FEATURED IN VIDEO;
Flying Down to Rio (1933)
The Gay Divorcee (1934)
Roberta (1935)
Top Hat (1935)
Follow the Fleet (1936)
Swing Time (1936)
Shall We Dance (1937)
Carefree (1938)
The Story of Irene and Vernon Castle (1939)
The Barkleys of Broadway (1949)
My babies. Beautiful, perfect babies. Their films got me through a really tough time. And I can't even begin to express how much I love them and their films. They are just so wonderful. God I love Fred and Ginger. Seriously, if you've never seen one of their films, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER. They are the greatest partnership on film. EVER. Sure, their films aren't remembered alongside "Citizen Kane" and "Casablanca"- but they are still good. DAMN good.
My favourite film of theirs is definitely "The Gay Divorcee". I know most people say "Top Hat" or "Swing Time"...and while I LOVE those films (honestly I love them all), I can't ignore the originality of "The Gay Divorcee". I watched these films in chronological order, so seeing the Edward Everett Horton, Eric Blore and Erik Rhodes partnership for the first time is something truly special to me. It makes "Top Hat" look like a cheap imitation (that I love dearly lol). Plus, "The Continental"!!! Are you kidding me?! So much better than "The Piccolino". I often break into a verse of "The Continental" at random intervals. Especially the Frank Sinatra version. I dare you to YouTube it.
So I've been working on this video since I finished their boxset back in...May. Their boxset is easily my most treasured possession (that is a DVD) at the moment. It's mainly about their dancing, because, I mean, WHO DOESN'T WANT TO WATCH THEM DANCE?! Just a simple and fun video. Enjoy!
