The Clock That Stopped Time

"The alarm clock struck midnight. It wasn’t supposed to—it had been broken for years. Jason froze, staring at the clock. He had always meant to fix it, but never had the time, too busy chasing one deadline after another. But tonight, it was ticking, louder than anything in the silent room. He reached out, hesitating. A note was taped to its back: 'You can reset it, or let it run out.' His breath caught. "Reset it? Run out?" he whispered. The clock’s hands were spinning now, faster and faster, the glow of its face illuminating all the things Jason had been ignoring—unfinished dreams, missed moments with loved ones, the passion he’d buried under years of routine. His heart raced. He grabbed the clock and it stopped instantly. Silence. Jason knew what he had to do. Tomorrow wouldn’t be the same. It couldn’t be. The clock had given him time—time to change.
