Birth and death of a cumulonimbus (thunderstorm) over the Sandias - 4k time lapse

This time lapse movie documents the beginning, growth, and end of a cumulonimbus cell. In the beginning of the movie you can see several cumulus clouds convecting, with most of them eventually dying. At about 15 seconds in, the cumulus on the left is clearly growing larger than the others. By 35 seconds, ice is clearly forming at the top of the cell (looks like some fuzz around the edges). Starting at 40 seconds, precipitation starts falling out of the cloud. At this point it would be classified as a cumulonimbus calvus. From this point onward an anvil starts to develop. Beyond the 1-minute mark it would probably be classified as a cumulonimbus incus, but the anvil is moving off to the right. The cell continues to convect for a while, but then eventually the updraft weakens and the cloud collapses in on itself. Near the end everything looks "fuzzy" as the cloud is now mostly composed of ice crystals. At the end, convection completely stops and the cloud dissipates except for a remaining patch of fuzzy ice crystals.

This video is discussed in my Lecture 6 on convective storms.
