Pfaff 463 sewing spur gear replacement attempt

Been trying to get this old sewing machine that came with my house running and found out a plastic spur gear was shattered inside. Ideally I'd slide the shaft out and replace the gear, but the hub seems to have jammed. At one point I had it spinning, then took a mallet to the shaft and it jammed on there, now I can't get it loose. I'm hesitant to grind it off because it's right next to a non shielded bearing. Any recommendations?
