From October 2026, you won’t need a TAN anymore to deduct TDS; the process is now simpler with a PAN-based system.

But don’t get confused… TDS is still mandatory. Tax will still apply to long- or short-term gains, and it will be deducted from the full sale value, not just the profit.

That’s why many NRI sellers may face cash flow issues unless they apply for a lower or nil TDS certificate.

So yes, the process is easier now… but compliance is just as important.
