Okaniwa Yayoi is an internationally renowned Sephardic singer and Oud musician currently living in Jerusalem, Israel. A native of Japan, Yayoi graduated from the prolific Kunitachi College of Music where she majored in music education (Eurythmics), Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque music. Yayoi has been a featured recording artist in numerous international concerts and has appeared in a variety of TV commercials and productions.

She got a scholarship from the government of Israel for her study at the Ladino center at Bar-Ilan University, where she learned Jewish music and Mediterranean-style music in Musrara, the Middle Eastern music center in Jerusalem. She sang in the 5th Ladino Festival at the Habima National Theatre. Later she studied musicology at the Hebrew University. Now She is a solo singer and oud player in the Israeli Ladino Orchestra.
