Cheap composite video to HDMI converter - Is it really THAT bad?

Testing a $6 composite A/V to HDMI converter to see if it's useful for transferring analog video sources into digital form when connected to an HDMI capture card on a PC (the Pyle PLINK5, which I reviewed previously).
