"FRICTION"
This piece is a meeting between two dance disciplines, Ballet technique and Javanesetechnique in general. It talks about the friction of two body techniques, west and east, afloatand grounded, that also symbolize two natural elements. Ballet technique represents the windwhile the Javanese technique represents the water. The friction between wind and watercreates waves. The size of the waves created by the friction depends on the energy when theyclash. In its relation to life, this piece expresses about the emotional waves of someone’spresence in a society with its own ups and downs created by the frictions with other things.Where the emotional highs and lows are deeply felt in this covid-19 pandemic situationthroughout this year.
Karya ini merupakan pertemuan antara 2 disiplin tari yaitu teknik Ballet dan teknik Jawa secarageneral. Karya ini berbicara tentang pergesekan antara 2 teknik tubuh, barat dan timur,melayang dan membumi, yang juga dapat melambangkan 2 unsur alam. Teknik balletmewakili perlambangan unsur angin dan teknik Jawa mewakili unsur air. Pergesekan antara angin dan permukaan air menimbulkan gelombang. Besar atau kecil gelombang yangditimbulkan dari pergesekan itu tergantung dari seberapa kuat energinya ketika bertemu.Dalam keterkaitannya dengan kehidupan, karya ini mengungkapkan tentang gelombang emosiseseorang dalam keberadaannya ditengah masyarakat yang juga mengalami pasang surut emosi yang dihasilkan dari pergesekan dengan hal-hal lainnya. Dimana pasang surut emosi itu juga sangat dirasakan dalam situasi pandemic covid 19 tahun ini.

@swargalokaart is a foundation focused on developing traditional dances in Indonesia. Their works try to connect the values in tradition with the current condition. Swargaloka is concentrating on the youth's interest on performance arts based from the local tradition.

IDCO was publicly launched in October 1st, 2016 at The Jakarta Art Building (Gedung Kesenian Jakarta). It was founded by Claresta Alim, who is concerned about the future of dancers and the world of dance in Indonesia. One of IDCO’s aspirations is to transform dance profession as a promising and prospective career in the country.
