Dodgers Postseason: Will Smith on Catching Yamamoto’s Dominant Complete Game in NLCS Game 2

Dodgers catcher Will Smith discussed Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s historic complete game performance in Game 2 of the NLCS — the first by a Dodger in the postseason since José Lima in 2004.

“He was just executing pitches — getting ahead, getting soft contact, punching guys out. Super efficient tonight.”

Smith praised Yamamoto’s composure after allowing a leadoff home run:

“He got punched in the mouth on the first pitch of the game… but to get 27 outs after that, that was impressive. Total domination.”

Smith, who also caught Blake Snell’s strong outing the night before, reflected on witnessing two of the best back-to-back games he’s ever seen:

“That’s probably the two best back-to-back games pitched ever that I’ve seen. Just glad they’re on our side.”
