DIY Glass Insert Live Edge River Table Tutorial

So here is a project I’ve been working on in the evenings. A Live Edge Slab River Table with Glass Insert. To fit the glass I have to square everything up and route a 1/4” down each inside edge. I could do it freehand but I would most definitely go off and have a wavy edge instead of a straight one. So i lay the glass on the wood and draw lines down either side. I make sure my bit only comes down out of the bottom of he @boschtoolsna router plate by 1/4”. A fraction less actually so I can sand it perfectly smooth afterwards and still have 1/4” routed out. I then measured from the outer edge of the router to the outer most tip of the bit I was using. Which was 2-3/4”. So I then measure out from the inside pencil line on the wood 2-3/4”. This is then where I will clamp down a strip of steel. This creates a perfectly measured guide for my router edge to run down. So that the bit will run perfectly down the pencil line I drew first. Then so that my router doesn’t lean or tilt on either side (which would cause the bit to dig into the cutting area, making it uneven) I lay my other piece of wood close to the edge I’m routing so that it has a flat level edge to run down on both sides. Thus creating an almost perfectly level flat routed area. Once both edges are routed out completely. I sand with a 120 grit making it flat and super smooth for the glass to fit into too. Then insert glass!!
