Sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone to discover beautiful things. I got invited to play on NPO 1 late night show De Nachtzoen (night-kiss) but wasn't allowed to bring my e.piano (they said it didn't look too good eh...). Normally, I'd protest, but this time I chose to go creative. I always wanted to learn to play the #Mbira, so I called Shishani, a good musical friend and borrowed one. Within 2 hours I made up an even quieter version of my song "Hey You", which is an introspective sing-along song from my 2nd album #LoveMigration (2014). It's about self worth, and rewards the listeners with a sense of feeling good about themselves. It was amazing for me to re-discover the depth of this song, as they say, still water run deep :) The intimate result is on this video, including an interview (in Dutch!) with the lovely host Colet van der Ven.
