15. The Final NAIL in the COFFIN of Socinian Unitarianism
"Biblical (Socinian) Unitarians" deny the pre-human existence of the Son of God. Yet, John's Gospel is filled with statements about Jesus' role in the original creation, his coming down from heaven, His coming forth from beside the Father, etc. This language is claimed as "figurative" and not literal by these Unitarians. They claim that the same (allegedly metaphorical) language was used of prophets and especially John the Baptist. But they misrepresent and conflate statements about the prophets and John the Baptist as though they said the same things that John records about Jesus in his Gospel. They absolutely do not. Here is one example of this kind of Socinian subterfuge: https://youtu.be/rmeSU7uQU-c?feature=shared

In John 16:27-30 the Apostle John made it abundantly clear that all such language about Jesus is literal and not figurative.
John 16 (NKJV) 27 "for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I CAME FORTH (ex-erchomai) FROM (para) GOD. 28 I CAME FORTH (ex-erchomai) FROM (para) THE FATHER and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father." 29 His disciples said to Him, "See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech! 30 Now we are sure that You know all things, and have no need that anyone should question You. By this we believe that YOU CAME FORTH (ex-erchomai) FROM (para) GOD."
The verb translated "came forth" is "ex-erchomai," the normal word for "come" but with the preposition "ex" (which means "out from within"). The verb "ex-erchomai" means to "go out from" a place or someone's presence. The preposition "para" indicates the direction of movement (away from God's presence). No one apart from Jesus was ever said to have "come forth (ex-erchomai) from (from) God." No person except Jesus (apart from heavenly angels) is ever said to have "descended from heaven" (John 3:13). Jesus Himself said: "For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me" (John 6:38 NKJ). Therefore, Jesus Himself CHOSE to "come down from heaven" for a very specific reason. And this choice is a critical component of the Gospel message.
Socinian Unitarians also ignore the repeated juxtaposing statements that contrast Jesus' coming from God out of heaven with His claims to be going back to God in heaven, which are clearly literal (John 3:13; John 6:38,62; John 13:3). In doing these things, they are disbelieving and denying "the testimony which God has given concerning His Son" through John's writings (1 John 5:9-10).
