Q: Can the cup get stuck or disappear inside of me?

First of all, the cup can't disappear inside you, but it can move up slightly. If you have problems reaching the cup, the first thing to do is relax and breathe. If the menstrual cup has worked its way higher inside the vagina, it's important to relax the muscles as tensing up will only make removing it more difficult. Try squatting and use your abdominal muscles to push the cup downwards until you can reach the stem of the cup. Pull down gently on the stem until you can reach the bottom of the cup and grasp it with your fingers and pinch it to release the suction, and gently ease it out. Remember that the cup can’t get lost in the vagina; it will ultimately slip down by force of gravity.

Q: If I lay down will the blood run back into my uterus?

A: No, it's very unlikely that the blood will flow back into your uterus - even if you're upside down:) You may have noticed the relatively thick consistency of the flow so it doesn't slosh around inside you, it simply stays in the cup.

Q: Can I pee while the cup is inserted?

A: Yes, the cup doesn't collect your urine. The cup is inserted into the vagina and your urine comes from the urethra so the 2 doesn't interfere and you don't have to remove the cup when you pee.

Q: I am a virgin can I use a menstrual cup?

A: Yes, if you are a virgin, you can still use a menstrual cup. Although you should be aware that inserting the cup may rupture the hymen. However, by medical standards, virginity is not defined by the state of the hymen you remain a virgin until you participate in sexual intercourse. You can read more about that here: https://www.organicup.com/blog/hymen-virginity-menstrual-cup/.

Q: Is it safe to use the cup for 12 hours?

A: Yes, our recommendation of max 12 hours use is based on advice from gynecologists. Once the cup is inserted correctly, no external factors or free oxygen reach the accumulated flow, and therefore it stays bacteria free and the risk of infection is minimal. In fact, you’re more likely to get an infection from bacteria on your hands that was transferred via the menstrual cup than you are to get an infection from the menstrual cup itself. The best way to avoid getting an infection is to wash your hands before putting it in and removing it.
