In this video we use Iranian folk instruments:
- TOMBAK
The Tombak, also referred to as Zarb, is a wooden goblet drum, which is the most frequently played percussion instrument in Persian folk music and the classical Persian music of Iran.
- DAYEREH
A dayereh (or doyra, dojra, dajre, doira, dajreja, daire) is a medium-sized frame drum with jingles, used to accompany both popular and classical music in Iran, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan ( known as qaval) and many Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan. The simple drum is formed by attaching a skin cover onto a wooden ring with glue and cloth ties. This is similar to the Persian daira and the Iranian daf. Some daira have metal pieces attached to give them a tambourine-like quality.
- TAR (string instrument)
Tar (Persian : تار) is an Iranian long-necked, double-bowl body instrument, used by many cultures and countries including Iran, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Georgia, Tajikistan (Iranian Plateau) and others near the Caucasus and Central Asia regions. Persian Tar is a string or stringed instrument. It is the newest musical instrument of Persian folklor. It only dates back to 250 years ago. It's current form was developed in the 18th century. Iranians say that Tar is the sultan of instruments. It is strongly believed that Tar is the descendent of rubab which is played in Pakistan and Afghanistan. After is has been adopted to Persian art by the musicians it became a common urban instrument. The long and narrow neck of Tar has a flat fingerboard which ends with six wooden pegs. It has three courses of double "singing" strings which lies on the fingerboard There are also two pairs of shorter strings which is under the bass and over two small copper bridges on the upper side of the fingerboard. Tuning of these strings are variable according to the performer's taste.
In Persian the word "Tar" means string and a Persian Tar is a stringed vibrating musical instrument. The initial sound is produced by a stretched string which is vibrating.
