As the election date draws near differences between IEBC and the Communication Authority persists
54 days to the August 9 polls and the differences between the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and the Communication Authority persists. The bone of contention is the physical verification of internet connectivity in all polling stations. The commission received a data report from the communication authority which it generated from a desktop survey and not physical survey as per IEBC request. On his part, Communications Authority Director General Ezra Chiloba maintains that the authority provided information on network coverage based on geo-coordinates submitted by IEBC, and it’s the duty of IEBC duty to physically verify the same since they know the exact locations of the polling stations.
