#SwizzArtBiz: How Andrea Hinteregger De Mayo made it to the art world

Andrea Hintereggger De Mayo first started working in the financial sector before she transitioned it to the art world. She was a co-owner of a Zurich gallery and is now the director for Latin America at Mai 36 Galerie. Andrea tells Tanya König what she thinks about closing her gallery after 6 years, and how young gallerists should go about their spaces, and why she thinks the pandemic and the push to go online was a missed opportunity to charge for digital content.

Andrea is also a guest lecturer at the University of Zurich and author of the 2020 book "Nuances of Latin American Art—Matices del arte en América Latina."

37:55 On her work as a guest lecturer at the University of Zurich Art Market Executive Master and on mentoring studentsYou can learn knowledge. What makes you special, is you and how you curate what you know. And no one else can do it in the same way as you do it. So I don't have any problems in telling you how it works, because you will do with the information exactly what you wanna do and how you probably grew up... I'm not scared of competition because it's only me. There is no other Andrea.
40:30 We need more role models also among women to support us. And on Frida Kahlo
