Saint Hedwig's Church Trenton NJ Christmas LP 1964 Koledy Polish Carols Conn Organ Pasterka

I didn't get to make it to midnight mass this year so i'm going to post something a little different. St. Hedwig's church recorded and sold this LP in 1964 (before i was born), then when i was about 9 or 10, i found the record and played it on our giant Magnavox console stereo every year. This is what midnight mass used to sound like at Saint Hedwig's when i was a kid. an all male choir with Helen Waskovich at the 3 manual Conn organ which by the way is still in use this very day and sounds just as good as it did back then.

When i was a kid, the nativity scene was set up over to the right of the church in front of the Mary altar. the Monsignor would carry the baby Jesus down the isle with all 4 priests and every altar boy in a procession to the crib as the whole church sang Silent Night with all the lights out. the Monsignor would then place the baby Jesus in the crib. After a blessing he would raise his hands and sing out the first few words of "Wśród Nocnej Ciszy" and all the Christmas trees would light up around the nativity then the organist would strike two keys and the choir and everyone else in the church would continue singing the rest of Wśród Nocnej Ciszy at least 2 verses as all the lights in the church would come on a little at a time.

the 1st song in this video is Wesołą nowinę which is a very beautiful Polish Christmas carol that unfortunately I never hear played at St. Hedwig's anymore
