We're remodeling our 11 year old class C RV and installing new flooring. Water damage was found in the floor under my refrigerator. In this video I repair the water damage in the floor after removing the old flooring.

This video was originally going to be about installing new flooring. That changed as I started removing the old flooring. What I found under the old flooring may make you gasp.

As I removed the vinyl under the refrigerator, what I saw was rotted damp plywood. This may be a nightmare situation for most. After a quick examination of the problem area, I figured I’d try and fix it myself. I knew it would be difficult, but certainly doable.

Here are the general steps to repair the water damaged RV floor:

(1) Cut the plywood floor beyond the damaged area (just short of the thickness of the ½” plywood)
(2) Remove any bolts and brackets that pass through the floor
(3) Pry up the remainder of the damaged plywood down to the insulation and metal framing
(4) Clean the area of all debris and corrosion
(5) Cut a new piece of plywood the same thickness as the subfloor removed
(6) Glue the new plywood down with construction adhesive
(7) Replace the bolts and brackets removed previously
(8) Place weights on the surface while the glue dries
(9) Smooth out any rough edges with a wood plane or sander
(10) Fill any gaps with sealant
(11) Install new flooring
(12) Stand back and admire your handywork
