Hamilton and District Labour Council celebrates May Day with special event

It’s international workers day, better known as May Day, and the Hamilton and District Labour Council is marking it this evening with a special annual event.

May Day is associated with a massacre of striking workers in May of 1886 in Chicago, and is a day to celebrate the achievements of the Labour moment, including the eight-hour workday, paid sick leave and the right to a safe workplace.

For more on this, we spoke with the President of the Hamilton and District Labour Council, Anthony Marco about the importance of May Day and labour issues within the Ford and Carney government.
