Part 1: Wat Phrathat Doi Hin Kio (Gear Talk, Red Zones, Scooter Ride & Haircut Story)
On a visit to the "This Is a Book" library and coffee bar, I heard about two temples near Mae Sot that I should visit. It took some time, but I tracked down one of the temples on Google Maps. And on my second scooter trip, I managed to track it down.
The second temple, however, was a bit of a mystery. I knew it featured a large gold-painted rock balanced on the edge of cliff. With that information, I thought it would be easy to locate on Google Maps, but I just coudn't find it. I started to assume that this temple was not near Mae Sot at all.
But then a helpful viewer left a comment with the name of this temple and a Google Maps pin for its location. With that info, I set off on my scooter one morning to check it out.
I was still playing around with filming my days using 2 GoPros at the same time. I'd done that once before on my return trip to the gravel quarry temple. And this was my second attempt. As such, I spent the first 24 minutes just talking about what I'd learned from my first attempt and how I was going to shoot with 2 GoPros on this trip.
And then I kept filming pretty much for the entire trip. Because of that, I ended up with over 3 hours of video. In fact, I ended up with about 5 hours of video because I was shooting with 2 cameras simultaneously much of the time.
I thought about editing it all down to one video, but then I changed my mind and decided to divide it up into three separate videos and post nearly all of it. It essentially became a video diary of nearly my entire trip to the temple - in real time.
