US President Donald Trump calls 'Strait of Hormuz' the ‘Strait of Trump’

US President Donald Trump sparked reactions after referring to the Strait of Hormuz as the “Strait of Trump” during a speech on March 27.

Speaking at the Future Investment Initiative in Miami, Trump said, “Iran has to open up the Strait of Trump...I mean, Hormuz,” drawing laughter from the audience.

He briefly apologised before joking that there are “no accidents” with him. The remark comes at a time when the strait remains a critical flashpoint in the ongoing Iran conflict, impacting global oil supply.

Clips of the moment have since gone viral, adding to the ongoing buzz around Trump’s remarks at the summit.
