How to measure the state of charge of an automatic watch with Seiko 5 SNK795
In this video I show a method I came up with to measure the state of charge, or the power reserve in an automatic watch. It can be done in 20-30 seconds and works by observing the rotor to estimate the main spring tension. The method should work with any automatic watch as long as it has a glass back.
I demonstrate the method with a new Seiko 5 SNK795 which has a 7S26c movement and a home made rotating platform jig
