The Thorns - Hawthorne High School 50th Reunion Concert

MC Madison Monk, was a 1969 alumni. He went on to be Wolfman Jack's writer for many years. Monk was responsible for most of Wolfman's dialogue in the film, "American Graffiti."
The Thorns band was made up of local Hawthorne musicians, who flew in from all over the US to appear here. Most of us knew and worked with the legendary Emitt Rhodes. Emitt lived in the same spot, just two blocks over from Ken Roberts and Jim Lenn lived in the same spot, two blocks the other side of Emitt's home. Emitt was invited to come and join his old friends, but he is pretty much a recluse these days. Beside the Beach Boys being from Hawthorne High School, they returned to perform at the 1969 HHS Prom. For free. It wasn't like a band and their audience, we were all students together and making cracks about the teachers and coaches.
