Is this German idea the answer to British homes // living in Germany
Germany has many differences to the United Kingdom and this video explains just one of them. In Germany, it is very common to have a chimney sweeper who will arrive at the home once or twice per year and they will inspect the chimney, clean the chimney and observe the whole system for any damage. I think that it is a superb German system that works very well. In England, many people will clean their own chimney with cleaning rods throughout the year.
Rules are always changing around the world! It seems that having a log fire in your home will be only be available for certain countries with the possibility of other countries placing a ban on wood burning. A log fire has always had a calming and relaxing feeling, the flames kicking up, the warmth against the skin but yes, It has to be done safely. Maybe this German idea is the answer to British homes, just the same as it was many years ago.
The British government has stated that "owners of wood burners, stoves and open fires will no longer be able to buy house coal or wet wood, under a ban to be rolled out from next year"
Can you burn wood in London?
The answer currently is no, London is classified as a smokeless zone which means that you can not burn wood or coal in an open fire. You may burn smokeless fuel which is manufactured to produce less smoke.
Of course, we still have to remember that the practice of burning wood can still emit air pollution which can impact the environment and your health.
I find that an open fire, wood stove or something similar is very relaxing, allows you to reflect and helps you to work towards a positive mindset. The importance of relaxation is underestimated, it has many benefits.
