Prague Zoo Day Trip

When we read on Trip Advisor that Prague Zoo is the 5th Best Zoo in the World, we had to do a Prague Zoo Day Trip. But did we rate it as 5th Best?

It is definitely one of the finest zoos in all of Europe. Just a few days earlier we had visited Vienna Zoo and we were extremely impressed, we wanted to see how Prague Zoo would compare.

Our overall impression was .... this zoo is stunning! It deserves to be voted as the 5th best zoo in the world. And yes, it is a little bit more impressive than even the famous Vienna Schonbrunn Zoo (voted 7th best zoo in the world)! One of the highlights of Prague Zoo is the large African open range type enclosures, which you can walk around.

Another of the highlights is the split level layout of the zoo. Half is down along the river, then you catch this giant ski lift up to the top of the valley to the top half of the zoo. Here you are treated to some stunning views of the river and of Prague.

Our only disappointment was that we didn't allow enough time to see and fully appreciate this zoo. The zoo was open late, and we spent a full 7 hours in the zoo. But still we found ourselves rushing towards the end, and we didn't see all the exhibits. And believe me, we went through the zoo quickly!

If you are in Prague and have kids in tow, do not miss Prague Zoo! In fact, even if you don't have kids, do not miss Prague Zoo! It is the 5th best zoo in the world and is absolutely stunning.
