Floating

This is a short experimental film I shot for an individual project on my college. My biggest passion in filmmaking is camerawork and visual beauty. Thats why I chose to do this one-take witch was very challenging to shoot. Everything has to be timed perfectly and the picture and content also needs to be interesting trough out the whole shot.

The location we shot this film is called Nes Church Ruins and it's supposedly one of the most haunted places in Northern Europe.
This is an experimental film so it can be interpreted in many different ways. I've chosen this location because it's very unique and visually correct for what I was looking for. I've tried to add some symbolics to this film by making the actress walk around this enormous old tree. This tree is a symbol for life. Then she sits down in front of a tombstone witch obviously is connected to death. Then she fires a new emergency flare before walking into the church and she sits down in this big empty shell of a church ruin as the flare burns out. My interpretation and intention of this film is that she is in a place between life and death be cause of the tree and tombstone, and she fires this flares to keep the shadows away from swallowing her into the dark. Thats the reason for the title of this film, Floating, as she is floating between life and death.
