We are continuing with our series where we review CBI programs. Today we are going to review the first Unofficial Citizenship by Investment Program - Georgia.

Georgia is a transcontinental country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. Located at the crossroads of Western Asia and Eastern Europe, it is bounded to the west by the Black Sea, to the north by Russia, to the east by Azerbaijan, and to the south by Armenia and Turkey. The capital and largest city is Tbilisi. Georgia covers a territory of 69,700 square kilometres (26,911 sq mi), and its approximate population is about 3.718 million.

Georgian citizens have visa-free or visa on arrival access to 114 countries and territories, ranking the Georgian passport 50th in terms of travel freedom according to the Henley Passport Index.

How does it work to obtain Georgian passport? Just like we said it's an unofficial program, and you can not find it online. This is a citizenship by exception program where you're given a passport in return for something grrat that you've done for the country.

This program was available in the past and then it got shut down. Now it's back. Now it's even possible to obtain the passport without visiting Georgia - you could get it at the Georgian embassy in your country of residence.

Even though, this is certainly not the best passport you can buy the fact that it's unofficial can save you lots of headaches. Caribbean citizenships by investment are widely known, so banks got used to them. Many of our clients had issues banking with those passports - bank would ask them for their original passport as it was pretty obvious that they're not native Caribbeans.

Many of those famous CBI passports got blacklisted by banks worldwide, Vanuatu (which we already talked about) is a great example of that. Banking with a Vanuatuan passport is a nightmare!

You will not have these types of issues with your Georgian passport. Georgians don't have any issues with the reputation of their passport.

Another HUGE advantage of this program is the speed - you can get the passport in just 2 months?

What about the costs?
Well, it certainly is not the cheapest passport you can get. You can expect to pay around 200 000$.
This amount is a donation and is inclusive of all the fees.

Would living in Georgia be a good option for you?
