Spring Harvests Link to Key Sowing Dates
April is too early for any sowings of the current year to have come to harvest, except for radish and turnips. Most of what you might pick in April, will have been sown last summer and autumn.
Or they might be from perennial vegetables, such as the rhubarb and asparagus.
Asparagus needs more warmth than rhubarb and starts here from the last week of April.
The broccoli you see is overwintered from 21st June sowing and is fully in season.
Spring greens, salad onions and hearting cabbage were sown 30th August.
Chard was sown July and transplanted early August.
