Boeing 767-300 LATAM Peru | Lima - Los Angeles | Amazing landscape over the Sonora desert

Flight from Lima to Los Angeles LAX on CC-CWY, a Boeing 767-300ER delivered originally in 2007 to LAN Airlines (nowadays LATAM Chile although operating for LATAM Peru). The flight is approximately 9 hours long, flying over the Pacific Ocean, Galapagos Islands and Mexico.
This plane is equipped with 2 x GE CF6-80C2 engines. This type of engine is also used to power the Airbus A300/A310, Boeing 747-400 and the MD-11.
My seat was 36L (it was originally 35L but LATAM messed up the seats and another person got the same seat). Luckily 36L was available.

I found strange that they did not fully dim the cabin lights. Cabin lights are usually (if not always) fully dimmed so that the eyes can get adapted to the darkness. Should an emergency evacuation procedure be required during darkness, it's crucial to be adapted to the darkness in order to see what's going on outside the plane.
My PTV was faulty and unfortunately, the LATAM entertainment app was either not installed on this plane or it was out of order.

We took off at 1:50 am Lima time (4:50 am for me), so this was a quick dinner (hot sandwich + dessert).
We are now flying over the Pacific Ocean, along the coast of Guatemala.
The original Boeing 767 versions did not have winglets. Many 767s have been retrofitted with blended winglets for fuel efficiency.
The IFE on this plane was quite old. On the return leg I flew on a 787-8 and it was a completely different experience.

The 767 is one of my favorite planes to fly in coach. Despite it's been in the market for 35 years, it's a very comfortable plane (with a 2-3-2 lay-out) as six in every seven passengers are either next to a window or an aisle. Only the newest 767s or the ones that have been retrofitted have this 777-type interior. Currently LATAM, with 35 airplanes, has the world's third largest fleet of Boeing 767-300 (pax version)

In 2012 the Discovery Channel and Channel 4 produced a documentary where a Boeing 727 crash landed intentionally to analyze the effects on passengers according to where they were seated. The area was not far away from here, in the Sonoran desert.

Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton (military airfield). This station supports over 180 helicopters according to Wikipedia.
Sunny California
Even being used to seeing the huge São Paulo from above, Los Angeles combined with its outskirts exceeds SP size by far. There are airfields everywhere...
These days the weather was very hot, with temperatures above 100 F (38 C)
Interstate 405. Not too far is the infamous In-N-Out Burger restaurant
