The African continent is often considered as the poorest continent in the world but there are some heads of states who are making some pretty good money for themselves and are able to live way above expectations. Some amass wealth from having several investment interests like business, the financial sector, real estate and also their earnings as head of state. We know that most African leaders are corrupt and a huge chunk of the wealth are acquired through unsubstantiated methods and as a result don’t declare their total wealth. So, in this video, we shall do this countdown using Forbes’ classifications of 2020 richest presidents.

10. Abdel Fattah El Sisi - Net Worth - $185million
Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil el-Sisi is an Egyptian politician who is the sixth and current President of Egypt. He is the 10th richest president in African with an estimated net worth of over $185 million. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi currently uses amongst other luxurious cars a black armored variant of the 2013 Mercedes Benz S-Class with a special black number plate with the presidential crest above an Arabic 1.In 2017, after he was sworn in for his next term, Egypt signed a contract to buy four luxury private jets at a cost of $340 million, days after the president said he will not shy away from enacting tough economic reforms. We can almost conclude that the president doesn’t spare any expenses when it comes to getting himself the luxurious things of life.

King Mswati III born of April 1968 is the king of Eswatini and head of the Swazi Royal Family. He was crowned as the king of Swaziland on the 25th of April 1986 at the age of 18 making him the youngest ruling monarch in the world at that time. king Mswati is known for his practice of polygamy and he currently has 15 wives. His policies and lavish life style has led to local protests and international criticism. Despite the fact that more than 60% of the country’s population lives below the poverty line, King Mswati still lives expensively and spends lavishly.The 9th richest African leader has 13 palaces and a collection of private jets and doesn’t spare any expenses when it comes to his life style. For example, in the 2014 national budget, parliament allocated $61 million for the King's annual household budget while 63% of Swazis live on less than $1.25 per day. Following criticism of his purchase of luxury cars, including a $500,000 DaimlerChrysler's flagship Maybach 62 luxury automobile, he banned the photography of his vehicles. King Mswati has fleets of Mercedes and BMW cars including at least one Rolls Royce and a $500,000 Maybach 62. To add to his collection is a private jet that is estimated to cost $17 million and was speculated to have been purchased with public funds.
8. Isaias Afwerki - Net Worth - $210million
Isaias Afwerki born the 2nd of February 1946 is the first president of Eritrea, a position he has held since the country’s independence in 1993. He led the Eritrean Liberation Front to victory in May 1991, ending the 30 years old war of independence. The Eritrean president is the 8th richest president in Africa with an estimated worth of $210millionbut the irony is that President Isaias Afwerki is amongst the lowest paid African leaders. His leadership quality has been questioned because of how the rules using a draconian style of government. This report is backed with charges of human rights violations by the United Nations and Amnesty International. He oversees the nation’s finance which makes him to have access to the country’s wealth and despite the dilapidated state of his country he is amongst the richest African leaders.
