Kenny Veach was a 47-year-old avid hiker of the Mojave Desert in Nevada. On November 10th, 2014, he told his family he planned to go on a two-day hike in the mountains and look for a cave. He never returned.

Veach was an experienced hiker who often took solo trips to explore the Mojave and Great Basin deserts in Nevada and California. He was a minimalist or ultralight hiker. Even though he would camp out for days at a time, he only ever brought with the bare minimum of supplies.
