2020 Polaris Indy 600 SP 137 demo ride

Demo ride on a 2020 Polaris Indy 600 SP. This model has a 137-inch 1.35-lug track, electric start and non-adjustable shocks. It was a short ride, unfortunately. I can see why the new AXYS-chassis Indy's are so popular.

Having ridden Polaris Liberty 600's (carbureted), I thought the controls were consistent and well done. I also thought the engine felt like my old 600, even though this was fuel-injected. That's not a bad thing at all! I think it's a testament to how good the original Liberty 600 was - and still is.

Skis tended to lift when cornering, something I thought I'd see less of, in a dedicated trail sled. It was also rough on rough stretches of trail (it was all un-groomed). These are not unexpected and could be addressed with adjustments and a proper break-in period.

I like the sled overall, except:
- put a real windshield on it
- instrument display was limited and the easy-to-use toggle button turned out to be confusing. I'd like to see two displays, and eliminate the toggle.

I wish I could've compared this to an XC 600 with Walker Evans shocks, but I got a good introduction to the new Indys and I liked it. I'd probably snow check an XC instead of this one, unless they put a good price on it this spring.

Thanks to Rays Sport & Cycle in Grand Rapids, MN for giving me this opportunity!
