Wrong Lashings

This video is about Wrong Lashing Method for pipes on deck of a cargo vessel
Mainly due to the roll and pitch of the vessel in heavy weather the forces acting on the cargo, must be absorbed by the lashing straps. In this case that failed, as the lashing straps are guided over the cargo and only stopping it from moving in upward poistion, but hardly side ways.

On a sudden moment the forces are exceeding the allowable MBL of the load straps and when it fails most of the pipes roll over board.

Proper securing wedges and stoppers could have prevented this inicident and saved the cargo.
