Italeri 1/72 Scale IDF Magach 6 (M60 Patton) + Diorama

The American built M60 Patton MBT was an update version of the M48 Patton MBT. Both M48 and M60 tanks served with the US Army, US National Guard & US Marine Corps and with other foreign operators. One operator was the Israeli Defence force which operated both M48 and M60. The Israelis gave the tanks the designation of Magach (Hebrew: מגח‎, "battering-ram").

The IDF gave the M48 the designation Magach 1,2,3 & 5 and the Magach 6 &7 for the M60. The IDF M60’s saw action in the 1973 Yom Kippur/October War. However IDF suffered heavy losses of the Magach 6s during the 1973 conflict. Prior to the 1982 invasion of Lebanon (1982 Lebanon War), Magach 6 and 7 tanks were fitted with explosive reactive armour.

As for this kit by Italeri it’s got some inaccuracies. For example the road wheels are moulded as one piece (instead of the twin wheels around the track teeth). And there is no track teeth detail, the tracks are bald. Also the kits paint schemes are from the wrong time period. The kit lists the paint schemes depicting vehicles during the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

With the reactive armour on the Magach 6 appearing post the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The inclusion of the armour would be accurate to the 1982 Lebanon War not the 1973 conflict. Other than that the kit was an easy build.
So join me in this video were I build the Italeri 1/72 Scale Magach 6 with a 1982 Lebanon War diorama.

Happy Modelling
