Basic Pet Photography Tips and Tricks with Sample Photos, Explanations, and Ideas
This video has 51 photos of dogs and uses those photos to discuss principles in basic pet photography. The principles discussed here apply to any kind of pet, in varying degrees, but I photograph dogs due to allergies to cats, rodents, and most other animals.
I tend to break pet photos into four types -- portraits, scenes, action, and with people. This video looks extensively at portraits, as they're the type that most people can do most easily and from the start. The portrait section looks at what a good pet portrait photo should accomplish and provides samples and tips on how to achieve the best results. The video also discusses gear, editing, camera settings, and other basics that will help you be best set up for success with pet photos.
This video is not the be-all-and-end-all to pet photography. The goal of this video is to give you ideas about how to approach this subject, how to set yourself up to take good photos, and how to create images that the pet's owner will find pleasing.
