Ukraine: Protesters smash police cars and Interior Ministry

Protesters continued to occupy the Interior Ministry unit in Lviv Wednesday, after taking it over during the night.

All windows of the building were smashed and masses of records and papers burnt, along with books. Office furniture has been made into barricades surrounded by tyres, ready to set alight for potential clashes with security services. Protesters have equipped themselves with helmets, shields and batons and continue to guard all entrances.

Hundreds of university students had declared a strike Wednesday, many of whom occupy the area around the unit, carrying national flags and sifting through the debris. Fifteen buses had left the city bound for Kiev to support the anti-government protests in the capital city, Tuesday night.
