Of course, Tincan wrecked but Aepete hit like no other. Pete broke up with Ae to protect him. Pete's father came back and disapproved of their relationship. In the novel it explains in more detail, Trump came back, kidnapped and nearly sexually assaulted Pete. Luckily, he was found in time but Ae beat Trump up so bad he was almost half dead. Ae was facing jail time so Pete's father struck a deal with Pete and said that if he broke up with Ae then he'll pull some strings for Ae but he must also return with him and leave the country. Which is what Pete did even though it pained him greatly.

Although Tincan are now together (even though the rest of ep 1-2 was a flashback of 3 months prior) there is still a fair bit of angst ahead for them. Just wait till Tin's brother finds out about their relationship. He wants to stop at nothing to make sure Tin will never have any good things in life. He's a broken soul himself. Tin's brother actually has a novel of his own also.
