ALH VE Pump Quantity Adjuster Disassembly

***Update. Even after shimming the modulations piston displacement valve, the issue came back. Today, April 22, 2019 I put another quantity adjuster on the pump. If you’re having this issue persist, I’d say encourage you to consider replacing yours as well. While the fix I did in this video did solve the issue for about a year, it gave me ample time to locate a used injection pump for cheap. If you have a ALH engine code in your TDI, you can swap your quantity adjuster with any ALH injection pump. Both the auto and manual, ie 10mm and 11mm pumps, both use the same quantity adjuster.***

This is my disassembly of a VE pump quantity adjuster from a 2002 Golf TDI. To my knowledge there is no video on this particular pump part, so I decided to shoot and upload one of me disassembling it. This is both demonstration of how open up and remove QA compenents; and how address the issue of metal shavings inside the QA.

Tool for removing the security bolt on the VE fuel pump can be found on metal nerd's website: http://www.metalnerd.com/catalog/product/080c1c5a193f408dbbee9863f92db45a

Voltage specs for group 019:
Lower Limit: 0.5-1.0v
Upper Limit: 4.15-4.74v

(Just a note, on my car the 1562 code has been triggered in situations which the voltage was slightly higher than 4.15v; in multiple cases it has been 4.2v +/- 0.10. Take that into consideration as you set the Modulating Piston Displacement Voltage).
