English Mild, one of my favorite style of beers from the U.K. that from our modern-day perspective it comes with crushable ABV level yet packs with a full punch of flavors. Though from historical point of view this beer is like a 180-degree turn from what it is today. There is nothing “Mild” about it and in fact its evolution overtime is pretty harsh.

So, let’s unpack this harsh story of “English Mild” together in this session with the guidance of our guest speaker who is both a beer historian as well as beer fanatic, the one who took a deep dive down the history of English Mild back to its early day in the 18th - 19th Century, Ron Pattinson.
