Triads are part of chord theory and are the foundation or fundament for all other chords in the tertian functional harmony. There are 4 types: major triads, minor triads, diminished triads and augmented triads. Decides these triads there are also suspended triads. This and more you’ll learn in this crystal clear guitar lesson. Understanding triads is important to understand other chords and chord progressions. Triads are the basis of 7-chords, extended chords and added tone chords. In this video we’ll look at the four types of triads that are used to create chords like major 7 chord, dominant 9 chords, altered chords and so on.
