Why Flat Lay Photos are Important to Us!

Something we don’t talk about very often, and a part of weddings that doesn’t get a ton of love is flat lays. You put a ton of effort into the style and details of your day, and while it’s not incredibly important to the storytelling aspect of our films, it is important that we capture that with our photography.
Seeing the different elements laid out is a great way for us to understand the vibe and style of our couples; are they more elegant and fancy? Or more chill and adventurous? It also is a nice way to ease into the creative space that we need on a wedding day. Often times we’ll show up, say hello, and get straight into the detail shots before filming anyone or anything else, it allows you and your party the time to “prepare” for the cameras.

Vendors and couples, how important was it to have your flat lay captured on your wedding day? Is it something you needed to have or were kind of indifferent to?
