SPH Behind the Scenes | Ep. 7 IGCPR
In this episode of SPH Behind the Scenes, former Interim Dean Tim Beebe visits the Institute for Global Cancer Prevention and Research (IGCPR), which develops global research capacity and partnerships to advance the understanding of cancer risks and prevention in populations with a disproportionate disease burden.
Prevention remains the greatest tool in reducing cancer risk. In the U.S. and worldwide, those with lower socioeconomic status and who are Black, Indigenous and people of color often experience higher exposures to cancer risks and lack access to cancer screening and other control measures. The Institute for Global Cancer Prevention and Research (IGCPR) brings together researchers, trainees, and donors from around the world to collaborate in global cancer prevention efforts, advance scientific evidence, and build capacity to directly support policies and practices aimed at cancer prevention in susceptible populations.
