Enable Telerik AJAX MCP Globally in Visual Studio + RadGrid Demo with GitHub Copilot

In this video I show step by step how to enable the Telerik AJAX MCP server globally for all Visual Studio projects and use it as an AI coding assistant for ASP.NET Web Forms together with GitHub Copilot in Agent mode.

You will see the required licenses: an active Telerik UI for ASP.NET AJAX or DevCraft subscription, the difference between perpetual and subscription (https://www.telerik.com/perpetual-vs-subscription-licenses), and where to download your personal telerik-license.txt from your Telerik account.

I demonstrate where to place telerik-license.txt under %AppData%\Telerik\ and how to configure the global C:\Users\____\.mcp.json file so that Visual Studio can detect the telerik-ajax-assistant MCP server automatically.

Then I show how to enable the telerik_ajax_assistant tool from the Copilot Chat window inside Visual Studio so Copilot can call the Telerik MCP server.

Finally, I create a simple ASP.NET Web Forms web site and use the #telerik-ajax-assistant command in GitHub Copilot Chat to generate a RadGrid bound to a dummy data source, including the markup and NeedDataSource handler.
