Napoleon could have brought the Industrial Revolution 100 years earlier!

More Details:

In 1798, during his Egyptian campaign, Napoleon brought along numerous scientists and engineers. French engineers proposed using steam-powered machines to control the flooding of the Nile and increase agricultural production. This idea could have regulated water levels, boosted crop yields, and turned the region into a more productive colony. However, Napoleon rejected the proposal due to logistical and financial challenges. At the time, steam power was still developing, and implementing it in a region like Egypt posed significant technical and economic difficulties. Moreover, Napoleon’s primary focus was on achieving military success and gaining an advantage over the Ottoman Empire, so he was not inclined toward long-term projects. Had this idea been realized, the adoption of industrial technologies could have accelerated, and the Industrial Revolution might have had a much earlier global impact.
